Ingredients

Serves : 2
  • 3 piece hilsa or any other fish


  • 3 tbsp oil


  • 2 tbsp ghee


  • 2 nos onions sliced


  • 1 tbsp ginger & garlic pastel


  • 1 tsp red chili powder


  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder


  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder


  • 1 tsp salt or to taste


  • 1/2 cups curd


  • 2 nos green chilies


  • 1 cups coconut milk


  • 1 cups basmati rice, soaked for 30 minuets


  • 1-2 tbsp ghee or oil


  • 1 inch cinnamon stick


  • 2 nos cardamoms


  • 4 nos cloves


  • 2 nos bay leaves


  • 1 nos sliced onion


  • 2 tbsp fried onion


  • 2 nos green chilies


  • 1 tsp kewra water


  • 1 tsp chopped coriander leaves

Directions

  • Marinate fish with a pinch of salt, turmeric and chili powder for 10 minutes.
  • Heat oil and ghee. Sauté onion till light bread. Add ginger and garlic paste and fry for a minute.
  • Add all dry spices and mix well.
  • Add curd and green chilies. Simmer for a minute.
  • Add coconut milk and simmer for a minute more.
  • Add the fish and cook, covered for 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Switch off the flame and keep aside.
  • Add ghee or oil in a separate pan and temper with whole garam masala and bay leaves. Add onion and sauté till light brown.
  • Add soaked rice and stir for 2 minutes
  • Add 4 tbsp. of the gravy, salt and 1 & 1/2 cups water. Cook till the rice is done.
